Jay-Z Spends $250,000 on Champagne

Jay-Z Watches Coldplay Perform at the Glastonbury Festival

Jay-Z celebrated the success of his new album collaboration with Kanye West, Watch the Throne, by forking over a quarter of a million dollars on booze.

The rapper popped bottles of Armand de Brignac, a luxury champagne known as the "Ace of Spades," while partying it up at the posh Fountainbleau Hotel nightclub in Miami. He tipped the waiters $50,000 (that is 20 percent) and went on to drop thousands more at Italian restaurant Scarpetta and LIV nightclub.

Just for context: $250,000 could buy you five years of tuition at Harvard, a new three-bedroom home in North Carolina, or a 2011 four-door Lamborghini.

Jay-Z and Kanye cut up Maybach in 'Otis' video

jay z and kanye

In the just-released video for Otis, Jay-Z and Kanye West take a chainsaw to an expensive Maybach car and transform it into a tricked-out convertible, all with a big American flag in the backdrop.

Four models squeeze into the back and they race around the lot, sparks flying, in the video directed by Spike Jonze. Watch for a cameo from actor Aziz Ansari.

Otis, the lead track from Watch the Throne, (No. 1 in iTunes in 23 countries) is built on a sample of Try a Little Tenderness by Otis Redding.

And if you love the Maybach? It can be yours. The car will be auctioned off for charity to benefit victims of East African drought, according to the final screen of the video, which ends abruptly.
