Ashton Kutcher now highest-paid sitcom star

Ashton Kutcher, who is wrapping up week 2 on the new job, is taking home a nice paycheck for his Two and a Half Men work.

TV Guide reports that he's getting $700,000 an episode. Nice money - but still far less that what Charlie Sheen was making as he approached $2 million an episode last year. Still, it makes Kutcher the highest paid sitcom star on TV right now.

Paycuts are prevalent in the industry. TV Guide says Ted Danson will earn $225,000 an episode to join CSI — a savings from Laurence Fishburne's $350,000. And Tim Allen, who is returning to TV in ABC's Last Man Standing, and Kiefer Sutherland, on Fox's mid-season showTouch, will each make $125,000 an episode. That's a major pay cut for Sutherland, who was making $400,000 per episode during his 24 heyday.
